Dear Girls and Boys:
The world loves heroes. That is
why there is so much admiration
today for our young men and
young women in Palestine.
Hitler's forces are threatening
the entire world. But the Nazis
are closer to Palestine than to
any one of us. This has not scared
the Jewish men and women of
Palestine. On the contrary, it has
given them added courage.
Last month alone. nearly 2,000
of our young people enlisted for
service with the British armed
forces in Palestine. They are in
special Jewish battalions and
have their own trained command-
ers. Today, there are tens of thou-
sands of Jews who are carrying
arms in Palestine ready to fight

The Detroit Halevy Singing
Society has accepted an invita-
tion to participate in the mam-
moth Americans-All rally which
will take place Wednesday, Aug.
19, at Eastwood Park, Gratiot
and Eight Mile Rd. The Halevy
chorus will represent the Jewish
population of Detroit as one of
the features of the elaborate
program which has been arrang-
ed as the climax of the day's ac-
tivities.
Approximately 50 different
nationality groups are taking
part in the program to promote
Americanism and good fellow-
ship and to overcome hatred and
misunderstandings among the
various groups.
In addition to the Halevy and
a number of other musical or-
ganizations, the program, which
will be presented in the East-
wood Park ballroom, will have
a number of prominent speakers,
including Federal Judge Frank
A. Picard, who will act as mas-
ter of ceremonies. The Halevy
chorus will, as usual, appear un-
der the direction of Dan Froh-
man.
In order to complete prepara-
tions for its appearance at the
Americans-All rally, the Halevy,
which has suspended activities
during the summer, had a spe-
cial rehearsal on Tuesday eve-
ning, Aug. 11 at the Bnai David.
Regular rehearsals will be re-
sumed in September.
