Holyday preparations will be ma- ident of Detroit Young Israel,

quarterly meeting of the Michi- for the state of Michigan by Na-
gan Synagogue Conference; Sun-
day, Aug. 9, at Congregation Beth

A representative of the Church
and Synagogue Protection Coun-

to Jewish youth.

conference, and David I. Berris
is chairman of the Detroit region.

Rabbi Rotenberg, whose ef-
forts are responsible for the re-
vival of Yeshivath Chacmey
Lublin, was in charge of this
Yeshivah in spite of his youth,
in Vilna, after the Nazis had
invaded Poland and the Yeshi-
vah was destroyed at its source.
He then was compelled to leave
for Japan, and later came to this
country to resume his scholarly
work.

Author of an important Tal-
mudic commentary, "Bikkurei
Aviv," which has been hailed
az a most significant and schol-
arly volume, this young Yeshi-
vah dean, now in his early twen-
ties, is considered an "illui"
(genius) by his colleagues who
are three times his age. His suc-
cessful efforts in enlisting the

Avoid Punishment

GENEVA (JPS) — In a Him-
garian report which smacks of
ingenious Nazi propaganda, it is
stated that 33,000 Jewish "con-
verts" to Christianity have ask-
ed the government for permis-
sion to form a i 'kehilia" and to
call a conference in Budapest
to discuss their position. The
Magyar government has rejected
both requests, it is said by the
Nazi sources.
