Blood Bank Folk Chorus
Rally Planned to Mark Peretz
Federation Women to Hear

the school program on commun-

speaker at the opening session
of ''A Day With Women of Dis-
tinction," to be presented by the
Jewish Welfare Federation's
women's division at 9:30 a.m.,
Wednesday, Jan. 31, at' Temple
Beth El.
Featured speaker at the con-
vocation of the division's fifth
annual institute will be Mrs. G.
Mennen Williams, first lady of
the state of Michigan.
Mrs. Manes Hecht has prepared
special artwork for the invita-
tion, which will be mailed to all
workers. General arrangements

The Bnai David Men's Club
will be hosts at the Friday night
services at 8:30 p.m. Jan. 12, at
the Bnai David Synagogue.
Members of the Boy's Club will
conduct the entire services.
Rabbi Samuel Prero, of Young
Israel of Detroit, will deliver the
address at the Oneg Shabbat, to

Pisgah, Louis D. Brandeis and
Ivan S. Bloch, will act as hosts
to a blood bank rally to be held
on Wednesday, Jan. 17, by the
entire membership of the Great-
er Detroit Bnai Brith Men's and
Women's Council, at Parkside
Fenkell and Parkside Ave-
nues.
Twenty-fice per cent of all
blood donated will go to the
United States Armed Forces in
Korea.
The Bank will be open from
6 p.m. to midnight, and all mem-
bers, as well as others who de-
sire to make a contribution, will
be welcome.
All contributors are examined
as to physical fitness before be-
ing permitted to give blood, so
that no one need stay away be-
cause of any doubts on this
ground.
Anniversary
The Jewish Folk Chorus will
honor the 100th anniversary of
the birth of the Jewish poet
Peretz with a concert Sunday
evening, Jan. 21, at Music Hall.
Featured will be Peretz' poem
Tzvei Brider, which was set to
music by Jacob Schaefer. Henri
Goldberg is the director.
Lillian Shapero, choreographer
from New York, who was with
Martha Graham's concert group,
will dance the part of the snake
in the oratorio.
Henrietta Chase, soprano of
Chicago, will be the guest artist.
She is a member of the Chicago
Opera Co.
The program will also include
several groups of Yiddish, Ile-
brew and English folk songs.
Other soloists will be Ellis
Freedenson and Ruth Goldman.
Aliza Stulman is the accom-
panist.

This will be the first time that
