June and July are the months for brides and their many
showers. Many of the hostesses look for new ideas in entertain-
ment and new recipes for serving. At a recent shower in the
home of Mrs. F. Berman who entertained for Harriet Aaron (nee
Charles Salzberg), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Aaron, the
following recipe was served.

1/2 cup crisco or butter
1 /:2 cup brown sugar
Add 11/2 cups raw grated carrots. Press carrots down and
and two egg yolks.
Mix by hand the following:
Sift together, 1 cup flour; 1 teaspoon baking powder; 1/2 tea-
spoon baking soda; 1, 4 .; teaspoon salt. Add 1 tablespoon
lemon juice, 1 tablespoon water. Fold in two egg whites
beaten sift.
Grease mold tin, pour in above mixture. Allow 1/2 from top
for rising. Preheat oven, place mold in 325 degree oven and bake
