Neugarten
Sets Luncheon

We appreciate the wonderful response of our Chronicle friends
who have sent in old Jewish recipes. Mrs. Max Madorsky sent us
an old Jewish dish brought to America in 1900 b7 a Jewish family
from Spain. We hope you like it.
ARROZ ESPANOL 'SPANISH RICE)
Serve with dairy or meat—optional.
21/2 size can of stewed tomatoes
1 small onion—diced
1 small green pepper—diced
1 cup uncooked long grain white rice
Salt and pepper to taste.
On top of your stove in sauce pan put the stewed tomatoes.
Simmer over a very slow flame. Add diced onion and diced pepper
to the tomatoes. Wash rice and add uncooked tomatoes. Rice should
not stick to your pan. Stir frequently. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Cook about 45 minutes.
Serve for a dairy dinner with grated cheese. For a meat dinner,
use 1/2 lb. hamburger which has been browned in skillet and add to
tomato mixture about five minutes before it is ready for serving.

Share your recipes with our Chronicle friends. Won't you send
us one today?
