LOS ANGELES-- (Special) —
The Federal Communications
Commission opened a hearing on
applications for license renew-
als of WJR, Detroit, and two
other radio stations controlled
by George A. Richards.
The Conimission met in Los
Angeles to discuss charges made
in connection with KMPC, Los
Angeles. Further hearings may
be held in Detroit and Cleveland.
The Radio News Writers Club
of Hollywood complained that
KMPC newscasts were slanted to
reflect Richards' personal views.
The American Jewish Congress
joined the Club in asking for !
revocation of the license.
KMPC asserts that although
Richards expressed himself on
politics and against certain per-
sons whom he classifies as com-
munistic, his personal opinions
have never been expressed over
his radio stations."
The station also said that Rich-
ards "is not arid never has been
anti-Semitic."
