Foes of Bigotry to Assemble

Sonic of American Jewry's
leading fighters against anti-
Semitism will convene in the
Book-Cadillac Hotel, Friday, Nov.
11 to 13, for the fourth annual
meeting of the national council
of the Joint Defense Appeal.
The JDA, currently seeking a
national goal of $6,826,115, is the
fund-raising arm of the Ameri-
can Jewish Committee and the
Anti-Defamation League of Bnai-
Brith. In Detroit, the JDA is a
beneficiary of the Jewish Welfare
Federation.
HUNDREDS DUE
With hundreds of Jewish lead-
ers from every state in the union
arriving here for the three-day
parley, the conference will re-
view every aspect of the problem
of anti-Semitism and map plans
for underwriting the pro-demo-
cratic effort of the AJC and ADL,
Max Osnos, chairman of the De-
troit committee for the meeting,
said.
Noting that the JDA parley
will serve as a "clearing house
for democratic thought," Osnos,
a vice-chairman of the JDA coun-

ication and employment, re-
stricted hotel and resort practices,
religious and racial tensions—all
are departures from America's
democratic spirit and must be
wisely corrected. It is to this
g uiding purpose that the fourth
onnual meeting of the JDA na-
tional council will be dedicated."
