to Mrs. Welt

DETROIT

In honor of Mrs. Joseph M.
Welt, president of the Interna-
tional Council of Jewish Women,
the board of directors and com-
mittee chairmen of the Detroit
section will meet at a subscrip-
tion luncheon Tuesday, at the
Great Lakes Club.
Mrs. Lewis B. Daniels, presi-
dent, will preside at the meet-
ing where Mrs. Welt will report
on her visit to the overseas proj-
ects of the Council during the
past summer.
Plans also will be presented
for the coming season of organi-
zation activities.
The vice-presidents. Mesdames
Dan Krouse, I. I. Bittker, Sidney
Solomon and Joseph Geschelin,
will announce plans for the var-
ious diVisions which they head.

City of Hope
Funds Sought

The Business Men's Group of
the Los Angeles Sanitarium have
formulated plans for the 1949
drive for funds for the City of
Hope, as the sanitorium is now
known.
A $50,000 goal has been set,
Nathan 11. Epstein, president,
stated. The drive formally starts
with an invitational dinner, Oct.
16, at the Bel Aire Hotel.
The City of Hope is a non-sec-
tarian tuberculosis hospital.
Hollywood stars recently held

softball games throughout the
country to raise funds for the
institution.
The Business Men's steering
committee includes Ben Gold-
berg, chairman, and Frank Ros-
enbaum, Harry Victor„ Adolph
Lichter, Charles Nathanson and
Sally Fields.
They will meet at 4:30 p.m.
Tuesday, at the Empire Indus-
tries office, 3300 Fort street west.

Equality Club will meet Wed-
nesday, Sept. 28 at the home of
Betty Berkowitz. 18048 North-
riwn avenue. At the last meeting
the club donated $500 toward this
JWV Memorial Home.

Dental Fraternity
to kid Brandeis U.

The Detroit chapter of Alpha
Oniega dental fraternity will
sponsor the "Professional Ball'
on Saturday, Oct. 15 at Masonic
Temple. A nationally-known or-
chestra will provide the music.
All proceeds wil be donated to
the Alpha Omega biological lab-
oratory at Brandeis University.
