"New applications for member-
ship in the Jewish Community
Council are being received daily,"
Dr. Shinarya Kleinman, presi-
dent, revealed. Organizatipns
applying in the last week include
the Louis D. Brandeis Chapter of
Bnai Brith, Hapoel Harnizrachi
of Detroit, and Israel Lodge of
Bnai Brith. •
"The Detroit Jewish commun-
ity," Dr. Kleinman said, "is be-
coming increasingly conscious of
the broad program and services
the Council is offering its con-
stituent organizations.
"The Council's work in com-
munity relations, internal disci-
pline and cultural prograniming,"
he added, "is rapidly coming to
the fore on our local community.
An increasing recognition of the
positive gains to the organiza-
tions through affiliation with the
Council accounts for the contin-
ued growth of the Council in
every phase of its activities."

Ruth Brotman, soprano, for-
mer Detroit music correspondent
and protege of the late Ossip
Gabrilowitch, who now resides
in Miami Beach, arrived with her
mother July 4 to visit with her
sister, Mrs. S. Weisman of Col-
lingwood avenue. Miss Brotman
is enroute to Montreal to visit
with her family before returning
to Miami Beach to fill concert en-
gagements.
