The Business Men's Group of
the Los Angeles Sanatorium will
hold its next dinner meeting at
6:30 p. in., Thursday, Dec. 2, at
the Furniture Club in the Hotel
Detroiter, after which time they
will icsume the regular weekly
meetings fur the duration of
their drive. The organization
seeks $150,000 in 1949.
The Detroit Auxiliary of the
sanatorium is bringing the world-
renowned Cantor Pinchik to De-
troit D: c. 15. He will appear in
a concert supported by a cast of
A playlet, "Ours the Task,"
will be presented by the Wom-
en's Division at the season's first
membership house party of the
Metropolitan Chapter, American
Jewish Congress, Saturday eve-
ning in the home of Mrs. Harry
Mitz, 9014 LaSalle boulevard.
The play is written by Mrs.
Harry Landsman and produced
byMrs. Philip Frank.
Guest speaker will ,be Sam
Brown, Brooklyn director of the
Congress. A musical program and
refreshments also are planned.
Mrs. Sophie Fordon and Mrs.
Pauline Krauss are in charge of
arrangements. Friends are in-
vited.
Carey McWilliams, author of
"Brothers Under the Skin," will
speak Dec. 5 at the Jewish Cen-
ter under the auspices of the AJC
Council.
A California attorney and ex-
pert in the field of human rela-
tions, McWilliams won the News-
paper Guild's Page One award
for his latest book, "A Mask for
Privilege." Another of his works
is "Prejudice."

is completed, it will be the larg-
est national non-sectarian medi-
cal center in the country under
Jewish auspices.

at 1 p.m. Sunday at Congrega-
tion Beth Shmuel when Benja-
min Krause will present a Torah
in memory of his wife Bessie.

Mizrachi Sisters
Eye Major Event
Annual Luncheon
Set for Thursday
Final plans have been com-
pleted for the annual donor
luncheon of the Sisters of Zion
Mizrachi, scheduled for 1 p.m.,
Thursday, at Shaarey Zedek.
Guest speaker will be Mrs.
Simcha Rabinowitz, president of
the Women's Mizrachi Organiza-
tion of America.
Mrs. Rabinowitz spent a year
in Palestine, where she surveyed
all projects sponsored by Ameri-
can Mizrachi, which include the
Bessie Gotsfeld Children's Vil-
lage and Farm School, and other
schools, nurseries, settlement
houses and vocational training
centers.
She also attended the World
Zionist Congress in Bask, Swit-
zerland, and visited DP camps in
Italy and France.
The program will also feature
a movie on Palestine, "Upon Our
Soil," and Yiddish and Hebrew
songs by Shirley Schubiner.

Color and Humor Are Blended
for Council's Fashion Revue
The color and humor of a
Doris Fisher Gershenson musical
score will be a feature of the
Fashion Revue of the National
Council of Jewish Women at the
Scottish Rite Cathedral of Ma-
sonic Temple, Monday evening,
Dec. 13.
Each song has been contrived
for the performers. Dee Parker
(Mrs. Phil Brestoff) will display
'That Jewel of a Dress," and
Mrs. Sam Gruber, who was pro-
fessionally known as Alice Dawn,
will demonstrate "The Basic
Dress," a novelty number of Eth-
el Merman quality.

A meeting of the Zionist Council
will be held Monday, Nov. 29
at the Jewish National Fund Of-
fice, 11816 Dexter, to hear a dis-
cussion on the United Palestine
Appeal issue.
