Dr. Louis Brahman, riglit, of the physicians' committee of the Zionist Organization of Detroit,
presents an invoice for a $4,325 X-ray machine to Morris M. Jacobs, center, president of the
Michigan Zionist Region, who accepts it on behalf of the Israel Equipment Project. Looking
on, from left to right, are Saul Gottlieb, director of the region, and Dr. Arthur Goldberg, who
together with Dr. Braitman was responsible for interesting a group of Jewish physicians in
securing the machine. Its purchase was greatly aided by a $1,300 contribution from the De-
troit X-ray Sales Co. and by efforts of Jewish physicians of the North Detroit General Hospital
who sparked he drive. A smaller donation of $100 worth of surgical instruments was made
M the same time by the Randolph Surgical Supply Co. Another set of surgical instruments
was contributed by Dr. D. 11. Fauman, member of the ZOD board.

to Speak Monday

Dr. Joseph Eaton, professor of
sociology at Wayne University,
Will be principal speaker Mon-
day evening at the first meeting
of the new year of Haifa chap-
ter, Zionist Oranization of De-
troit.
His subject will be "Israel
Marches On:" The talk will be an
interpretation of recent diplo-
matic and military events in
Palestine and on the world scene
as they affect the Jewish State.
The program will ope" with a
movie on Palestine. Following
the business meeting, there will
be group singing under the di-
rection of Mrs. Seymour Kr.,us.
Other features will include
greetings by Dr. li ouis Kazdan,
chapter president, and Saul Gott.

It is expected that they will
be as well received by the Eight
Mile road Negro community as
their colleagues have been in
Paradise Valley.
The meeting of the association
and its new chapter was ad
dressed by Dr. Shmarya Klein-
man, chairman of the internal
relations committee of the Jew-
ish Community Council who told
of his experiences on his recent
trip to the DP camps in Europe
Oscar Cohen, executive director
of the Community Council, also
spoke on group relations in De-
troit and the role which can be
played by the association.

Jewish merchants in the Eight
Mile road area have begun or-
ganizing for communal service
in the Negro neighborhood in
which they do business. Under
the leadership of Newman 11.
Knopper, Morris Jacobs and
Sam DeRoven, the group form-
ally a0iliated itself with the
East Side Merchants Association
at a meeting Sept. 27.
Meyer Silverman, president of
the association, welcomed the
new members to the ranks and
appointed DeRoven and Knop-
per to the executive board.
The new group will operate
as a chapter of the parent as-
sociation and work chiefly in
the Eight Mile area. It plans to
carry on the same type of ac-
tivities conducted on the east
side. These include financial
and moral support of Negro
communal causes and close co-
