TEL AVIV (ZOA)—An Arab
consumers cooperative and a la-
bor exchange, founded by the
Israeli government, are func-
tioning in Haifa, while an Arab
workers club and three Arab
workers cooperatives have been
opened in Jaffa.
These institutions are part of
a program by the Israeli minis-
try of minorities to encourage
autonomous institutions among
the Arab population of Israel and
to further their economic and
social program.
The ministry has already com-
pleted the organization of branch
offices in different parts of the
country to insure the safeguard-
ing of Arab rights, to encourage
social, economic and communal
reconstruction among the Arabs
and to foster better Arab-Jewish
relations.
Oath of Office
JERUSALEM (WNS) —While
Arab batteries were firing mor-
tar shells Into the Jewish areas
of Jerusalem, the new Israeli
Supreme Court was formally in-
augurated in the same courtroom
which the British judiciary oc-
cupied for 28 years.
It was the first Jewish Su-
preme Court since the days of
Sanhedrin, or council of 70 eld-
ers. 1900 years ago.
The five justices, who were
sworn in by Minister of Justice
Felix Rosenbleuth, were Chief
Justice Moshe Smoira and Jus-
bees Rabbi Simha Assaf, Itzhak
Olshan, Moshe Dunkelblum and
Scheur Zalam Cheshin.
Covering their heads in tradi-
tioual Jilwish style as they
placed their hands upon Bibles,
the justices took an oath "to
maintain fidelity to the State of
Israel and its laws and not to
swerve from justice but to judge
people properly."
Above the judges' dais was a
Zionist banner, in the place
where a British royal coat of
arms formerly hung.

Benjamin Levinson, president
of Michigan Mortgage Corpora-
tion, has set Dec. 15 for the
fourth anniversary dinner of the
corporation.
Michigan Mortgage is servicing
over $16,000,000 in FHA loans.
Considering the fact that the or-
ganization has been established
for less than four years this is
an outstanding achievement,
mortgage firm leaders agree.
