Ann Birk Kuper, solo actress,
will present the play The Heir-
ess," adapted from the novel
"Washington Square," at the
Home Relief Society's annual
fund-raising affair to be held
Oct. 28 in the form of a lunch.

Miss Kuper is called a master
of her art and is famous for her
character interpretations.
Mrs. Frank J. Winton is ways
and means chairman, and her
ticket chairman is Mrs. Irving
Small.
The yearbook, always a vital
part of the fund-raising project,
has as its supervisor Mrs. Hiram
Kaufman, with Mrs. John Her-
man as co-chairman.
Memoriams are being taken
by Mrs. Sam Leve; darlings by
Mrs. Adolph Deutsch; and hap
py events by Mrs. William Bo-
rin.

by Mrs. harry Ilinger, SOS
regional chairman, the Detroit
Women of Alpha Omega dental
fraternity will hold a shower as
its first meeting, Thursday at
the Hotel Book Cadillac.
Mrs. Morris Adler will be
guest speaker.
"The women's auxiliary has
gone on record to devote its
opening and closing meetings in
October and May to SOS," Mrs.
Henry Green, president, de-
clared.
Mrs. Albert Shulman, program
chairman, suggests that members
bring dew sheets, pillow cases.

SOS Day in Detroit will be

the organization to carry on its
charitable work of giving emer-
gency relief to the sick and
needy. The organization founded
in 1923 has been active in hos-
pital work, visiting patients at
all holidays and brightening up
their lives with gifts of candy,
cigarettes, magazines and other
comforts.

Amity Outlook
for the League
A panel discussion on "Your
Community and the World Pic-
ture" will highlight the first open
meeting of the 1948-49 season
for the entire membership of the
League of Jewish Women's Or-
ganizations, Oct. 22 at the Jew-
ish Center.
Participants will be the Rev.
Joseph Q. Mayne, executive sec-
retary of the Detroit Round
Table of Catholics, Jews and
Protestants; Dr. Victor Rapport,
dean of Wayne University's col-
lege of liberal arts; and John
Dancy, president of the Detroit
Urban League. Mrs. Arthur
Bloom is program chairman.
Dr. Mayne recently returned
from the international meeting
of the Round Table in London,

Will hold Supplementary Services Rosh Hashonah
George E. Goldberg, of the
Elevator Engineering Company,
has endowed and fully furnished
a physician's examining office at
the Jewish Home for Aged, My-
ron A. Keys, president of the
home, announced today.
The examining office has been
set up in the former Chidren's
home, now an annex to the old
people's residence, which houses
the infirmary. A physician will
be in daily attendance not only
in the infirmary building but
also in the main building which
houses 135 old people.
Full utilization of the annex
was made possible by the con-
struction of a heated corridor be-
tween the main building and the
former children's building, mak-
ing one large unit which pro-
vides for the care of nearly 200
aged men and women.
October 4, 5 and Yom Kippur, Oct. 13.
