Mrs. Harry Levine was in
stalled Wednesday as president
of the University Area Women's
Club. Other officers are Mes-
dames Karl German, vice-presi-
dent; H. D. Brotman, secretary;
and Ben Goldstein, treasurer.
A picnic is planned for June 26
at the summer home of Mrs.
Harry Nachman.

DETROIT JEWISH CHRONICLE

A joint, public installation of
the Jewish Women's European
Welfare Organization and its
North Woodward Branch will
be held at 8 p.m., Wednesday
in Bnai Moshe. Entertainment
will be furnished by Mrs. Sa-
rah Hochman, violinist; Lillian
Greenwald, pianist; and Rebec-
ca Kaplan, vocalist. Mrs. Mor-
ris Disner is chairman. Mrs.
Jack Seder Is president of the
parent group, and Mrs. Albert
Kurzman has been reelected
president of the branch.

A luncheon and fashion show
of the Jericho Rebekah Lodge
No. 328, 1.0.0.F., will be held
at 12:30 p.m., Monday in Frank
and Seder's auditorium. Mrs.
Mary Schwartz is chairman.
Proceeds will go to the cancer
fund.

A meeting of the Eva Prens-
lauer Maternity Aid will be
held at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday in
the home of Mrs. Harry Freed-
man, 2051 Hazelwood, Mrs. Sam
M. Samuels, president, an-
nounced.

Installation of officers of the
Detroit Women's Service Club
will take place Wednesday at
the Palm Beach Cafe. Mrs.
Nina Gold and Mrs. Bernice
Dickstein are chairmen. Pros-

New officers have been in-
stalled by the Hebrew Ladies
Aid Society. They include Mes-
dames, Julia Ring, president;
Leo Gantz and Joe Einzig, vice-

and Phillip Shapiro, treasurer.

The last meeting of the sea-
son of the Women's Auxiliary,
Jewish Home for Aged, will be
held June 21. Mrs. Samuel
Schwartz of Roselawn avenue
was hcstess Thursday to the
monthly session of the board.

New officers of the Detroit
League of the National Home
for Jewish Children at Denver
are Mesdames Sidney Sherman,
president, and Milton Mahler
and Charles Kottler, vice-presi-
dents. .

Club Bali will be the scene
of the installation of officers of
the Young Women's Bicur Cho-
lent Organization to be held at
12:30 p.m., Wednesday.

Weizmann Hailed
by Paris Throngs

PARIS (WNS)—Thousands of
cheering Parisians, Jews and
non-Jews, crowded the St. La-
zare station to greet Dr. Chaim
Weizmann, first president of Is-
rael, as he arrived in this coun-
try on his way to Palestine.
Although no special arrange
ments had been made for suc
a demonstration, the welcomin
crowd surged into and around
the station, 'shouting, cheering
and attempting to get near t
the veteran Zionist leader.
Zionist youths carried Israeli
flags and as Dr. Weizmann
stepped down from the train
the crowd spontaneously began
singing the Hatikvah.
Dr. Weizmann, accompanied
by his wife and secretary, in-
tends to remain in France for
two weeks before departing for
