TIME: Friday afternoon.

PLACE: Dexter at Webb.

QUESTION: Dow can Ameri-
can Jews support the new
State of Israel and yet not be
subjected to the unjust charge
of double loyalties?

DICK SHORE, 3786 Wager ave-
nue, Wayne University student.
I think American Jews can
and should go all-out in aiding
Israel.
We should
send arms and
money and
even men if
they go as
volunteers.
Of course,
the double
loyalty charge
will be brought
up by anti-
Semites, b u t
most Ameri-
cans feel that the Jewish cause
is right and should be helped.
American Jews have proved
their loyalty to their country,
and no other group can deny
this.

EDWARD MILLER, 3333 Bur-
lingame avenue, University of
Michigan student.

American Jews could send
arms and money to Israel with-
out being subjected to the
charge of double loyalties.
Sending men,
however,
would be go-
ing beyond the
limit, and
would, I think,
justify such a
charge.
There is no
doubt that Is-
rael needs our
help, particu-
larly in the
form of money and arms. But
we should be careful not to go
too far.

MRS. DAVID GOLDSMITH,
3843 Tuxedo avenue, house-
wife.

The new Jewish State of Is-
rael must succeed if the home-
less Jews of Europe are ever to
have a peaceful, decent life.
This means
that American
Jews must do
everything pos-
sible to make
Israel success-
ful.
We should
send money
and arms. And
some Ameri-
can Jews
should volun-
teer to fight, provided they do
so as American citizens and for
humanitarian purposes only.
I think we can do all this
without being charged with
double loyalties. If the Jews of
the world don't help Israel, no
one will.

DAVE BRODY, 2982 Calvert
avenue, Wayne University
student.

think American Jews are

l ined to over-estimate the

rge of double loyalties.
We seem to
forget that a
great many
Gentiles a r e
nympat hetic
with our cause,
and some are
even helping
us directly to
make Israel a
soccess.
I think we
ea u 1 d send
arms, money,• volunteers — in
fact, just about everything—
without being accused of double
loyalties.
