QUESTION: Should the Yialluv
go to war to establish a.JeW-
ish State if the UN abandons
its partition plan?
HERMAN KATZ, 9G36 Martin-
dale avenue north, Detroit Col-
lege of Pharmacy student.
If the UN abandons the par-
tition plan, the Yishuv will have
to go to war or else there will
be no 'Jewish
Homeland. The
Jews were
promised a
State by the
UN and they
should make
the UN stick
to its word.
I think the
Haganah could
drive the Arabs
out of Pales-
tine and take over the country.
Most of the Arabs fighting now
are not from Palestine but from
neighboring Arab states.
If the Jews did get posses-
sion of the country, I don't think
anyone would try to take it
away from them. •

wide to find a family as devoted
to camping as the Peter H.
Leidermans of Chicago.
Now that summer is almost
here, the Leidermans are busy
getting ready for the 13th sea-
son of their Long Win Camps
at White pigeon, Mich.
Mr. Leiderman, who is super-
visor of recreational activities
for Chicago's playgrounds, and
his wife, Sally, who has long
been affiliated with the Camp-
fire Girls, are the camp directors.
Their two children, Mrs. Lois
Davitz and Herbert, assist them,
the former as program director
for girls and Herbert as assistant
camp director.
Mrs. Davitz's husband, Joel,
is program director for boys. A
newcomer to the staff this year
will be Herbert's wife, Gloria,
whom he married last fall.
Mrs. Leiderman will be in De-
troit March 26-29 at the Hotel
Statler to meet parents. The
Detroit representative is Mrs.
Sol Rosenman, TO. 8-2835.
M. J. ELKIN, 2256 Philadelphia

I think the Yishuv is not
sufficient in numbers and . equip-
ment to wage warfare against
the Arabs without - outside as-
sistance.
Therefore, I
believe it
would be ^fool-
hardy for the
Yishuv to go
to war because
this would re-
sult in exces-
sive loss of life
without at-
taining the
ends sought.
I am not say-
ing that the Yishuv should ac-
cept a UN reversal on partition.
Rather it should try to attain
its goal by other methods.
ELEANOR VERONA, 9254 Quin-
cy avenue, Central High Stu-
dent.
After all these years of fight-
ing and suffering, the Jews
shouldn't accept any reversal by
the UN.
If the UN
drops its pledge
and the Jews
accept the re-
versal, there
will never be
a Jewish State.
Then the Jews
will be worse
off than before.
The Yishuv
should go to
war and tell
the world that they are deter-
minied to get a Homeland. The
Jews would be justified in fight-
ing for something that has been
promised them. They can't give
up now.

Pupils to Be Guests
at Party on Tuesday
Purim will be celebrated
the Women's Auxiliary of the
United Hebrew Schools with a
party at 1 p.m.; Tuesday, in the
Rose Sittig Cohen Bldg.
Pupils will participate in a
progi am of songs, playlets, piano
selections and recitations, Mrs.
Louis Gelfand, president, said.
The affair will open with a
dessert luncheon.
At a meeting last week, it
was decided to form parent-
teachers associations in all
branches of the UHS.

sists of Mesdames Max Gold-
smith, Don Aidem, George L.

berg, Abe Katzman, Morris No-
sanchuk, Lewis Hyams, Gerald

Buchhalter and Ben Sabin.
HARRY SABAROFF, 2610 Webb

I believe the Yishuv should
accept a new UN 4plan and then
wait to see how it will work
out. If it works against them,
the Jews should go to war.
Perhaps a bi-
national state
would be bet-
ter for the
Jews. If it
isn't the Jews
will gain time
to arm.
I believe the
Jews should
have a country
of their own,
but as things
are turning out, it looks doubt-
ful that this is going to come
about. So it would be better for
the Jews to test a -new plan be-
fore going to war.
