THE DURFEE Unity Forum
has accomplished what four
months ago seemed impossible.
Led by Sheldon Otis, the club
has presented three panel dis-
cussions on Brotherhood, the
last of which on Tuesday was
witnessed by Board of Education
officials and recorded for further
use.
Some of the panel members
were Judy Segal, Mark David-
son, Janet Vogel, Shel Otis, and
the Julius Rosenthal Award
Winner, Beatrice Broughton. In-
cidentally the proud fellow to
have won this award was Jerry
Weintraub (congrats from all of
Durfee) while the group is
thankful to Mr. Thompson for
having been its moderator and
to its sponsors, Miss Richmond
and Mrs. Bowerman.

MONDAY, Jan. 5 was a sad
clay in the lives of many of us
for it was on that day that
Davida Phillips passed away. In
the name of her friends we
would like to express our deep-
est sympathy to her parents and
her sister Barbara. Everyone
who knew Davida loved her. In
our hearts she will alway live.

Dinner Awaited
by Home Relief

A quarter of a century of
service to the Jewish commun-
ity will be celebrated by the
Home Relief Society at a dinner
Jan. 31 in the Rackham Bldg.
Founded in 1923, the organi-
zation has been active in hos-
pital work, visiting patients
•and brightening up their lives
with gifts of candy, cigarets.
magazines and other comfort
items. It also renders financial
assistance to those who are un-
able to afford special medicines
and treatments.
Working closely with Judge
D. J. Healy, the society has
been instrumental in rehabil-
itating delinquen1 children.
Another phase of the grpup's
program is giving help to new
families in the city.
Special tribute will be made
at the dinner to Mrs. Harry
Shulman, founder and first pres-
ident, by distributing gift food
baskets to all families under
the club's care.
Another highlight of the eve-
ning will be the instlilltion of
officers by Mrs. Minna Cornell.
Because seating fs , ilities are
limited, those planning t at-
tend are urged to mak-, i ime-
diate reservations with Mrs. M.
Garelik, newly-elected presi-
dent, UN. 4-3282, Mrs. Peter
Miller, UN. 3-4235, or Mrs.
Shulman, TO. 8-2784.
