One of the most active of
women leaders among the Zion-
ists of America is Rose Ha1prin,
newly-reelected national presi-
dent of Hadassah.
Mrs. Halprin has been on the
executive of various Zionist bod
ies and organizations since she
began to take an active interest
in Zionism. She was born in
New York, and by profession, is
a teacher. Her early education-
al training was received at

It is women like Mrs. Halprin,
characterized by constant en-

for work, who have helped the
Zionist cause in America to an

large a role in the solution now

Bernard Baruch is world-famous
today and the stories about him
are legion. To a previous list,
we now add the following one.
Several years ago the famous
Jewish statesman invited a
friend to his estate in South
Carolina for some hunting. The
friends had the desire but not
the ability. Although he roamed
the woods hunting for wild tur-
key, his every shot missed.
Baruch was too courteous a
host to pass any comment. How-
ever on the last afternoon the
friend was strolling dejectedly
through the woods when he saw
a fat turkey in a tree. He raised
the rifle, took careful aim and
pressed the trigger. To his de-
light, the turkey tumbled from
the tree and fell on the ground.
As the jubilant hunter stooped
to pick it up, he noticed a card
around the bird's neck which
read simply, "With the compli-
ments of Barney Bat -Lich.'
