Anti-Semitism Brings Drop
in Jewish College Students

.

WASHINGTON - The propone
tion of Jewish students enrolled
in professional courses dropped
from 8.8 percent in 1925 to 7.0
percent in 1946, according to Leon
J. Obermayer, chairman of the
Bnai Brith vocational service
commission.
These figures are exclusive of
enrollments in the arts and
sciences.
The fact that Jews go to col-
lege today in-practically the same
proportion as 11 years ago (8.8
percent in 1934 and 7.0 percent
in 1946), leads the Bnai Brith
vocational service bureau to be-
lieve that the decline in profes-
sional courses is due, at least
partly, to increased discrimination
against Jews in professional
hoots and departments.
