Two recent returned vets have
seen their "new addition" for the
first time. Jerry Herman, of 3310
Rochester, tells us that "Neal"
takes after his wife, the former
Marilyn Burnstine, while Sam
Feinstein says that his "Bruce"
will follow the pattern of his ol'
man.

elry fame, is now associated with
Music Hall and in charge of the
Popular Dept., booking and pro-
moting shows. Henry recently
came back from Hollywood where
he was associated with the Small
Company as associate agent which
did bookings with big time movie
stars. Henry's heart is still out in
Hollywood and don't be surprised
to hear that he's on the choo-
choo back again.

STREET SCENE .. .
. Jack Fine, our musical boy won-
der, had cornered Phil Brestoff,
WXYZ musical director, in the
middle of busy Washington Blvd.,
and was blasting forth some „tune
with the use of his hands and
feet for illustration.
Almost didn't recognize this chic
.. incognito behind red sun glasses

the Washington Blvd. Street par-
ade, I detected Diane Gelbard, of
Whitmore Rd., who's back in town.

Freddie Birndorf, of the Michl-
;gen Ave. Birndorf Shoe Store,
found an interesting organization
around town called "Inebriates In-
cognito." The members drink
wearing sun glasses.
There's the making of a new
JWV chapter — named after Lt.
Vaymond Blbeh, the former Wayne
Dnversity Collegian nite Editor
and active AZA member, who
was killed on the Invasion at Ile-
shims Island. Harold Klein will
give you info at TE. 2-6155.

are going fast for the Spring

expected. There'll be plenty of
babes available for those that
couldn't connect via the wires
with your favorite ones. Joseph

Gregarious Leonard Moss has
all the qualities of a natural lead-
er. He is quick-thinking, conscien-
tious, and extremely jovial. We
can see great year§ ahead for this
22-year-old Wayne University Am-
erican Veterans Committee (AVC)
vice-chairman.
Len was a Sgt. with the 15th
Air Corps in Italy. Previous to go-
ing overseas, he struck up a
friendship with another Detroit
boy (Jimmie McKee) who was his
army roommate. Today, McKee
and Moss are chairman and vice-
chairman, respectively, of the
AVC at Wayne.
The AVC has found the going
tough up to now. Organized In
February by these two men, the
chapter is striving to give the
vet a unit through which he can
best recognize the problems that
beset the students and citizenry at
large. With the membership still
in the two-figure bracket, Len ex-
pressed confidence that the num-
ber would mount rapidly in the
near future.
Moss returned from overseas in
October and culminated a pre-
war courtship with Beebe Gottes-
man via the matrimonial road.
A son of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph
Moss, 3260 Fullerton Ave., Len is
now teaching social sciences at
Dunce Jr. High as part of his
course as a Senior at Wayne. He
plans to go into social work upon
graduation, and has promised to
hire yours truly as his publicity
agent if and when he reaches the
coveted high pay bracket. "We'll
take you up on that, Len."

VETERANS .
Wayne University Sophomore
Harry L. Silverman had a lot of
firsts in his year of European
combat duty, but he did not learn
the significance of the most strik-
ing of them until weeks later.
After being the first artillery outfit
over the much-talked-of Ryma-
gen Bridge in the First Army sec-
tor, Harry's unit surged forward
to liberate a starving American
PW camp. He later discovered
that one of his closest friends,
Herman Hack, former Wayne stu-
dent, was among those freed. Her-
man was immediately shipped to
an army hospital to put back
some 40 pounds he had lost while
in captivity, but the reunion the
two had later was one for pos-
terity.
Harry was enroute to the Pacific
for redeployment when news of
the Japanese surrender reached
the ship. It turned around in
mid-ocean carrying this 24-year-
old, one hatilimark Army mars
back to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
N. Silverman, of 2931 Grand Ave.,
and a much-needed vacation.
A pre-dental student, Silverman
plans to enter the University of
Detroit upon graduation from
Wayne.

Prospective aspirants to the Pt
Tau Sigma, local Jewish frater-
nity, will find a real friend in Ar-
nold Cohen, pledge master of the
organization.
An ex-GI, 21-year-old, bespec-
tacled Cohen is one of the oldest
active members of the fraternity
from the point of service. As in
the case of many members of the
Pi Tau Sigma, Arnold left Detroit
in 1943 for a 32-months' stint with
Uncle Sam's Army. His foreign
duty in the ETO found him in
the role of medical aid man with
the 8th Armored Division. He had
an abbreviated taste of front line
service, and it goes without say-
ing that his experiences were far
from pleasant.
A son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Co-
hen, of 3227 Sturtevant Ave., Ar-
nold is a Liberal Arts senior at
Wayne. He plans to specialize In
gynecology.
