but quick. . . The Rebecca Elec-
trolysis Service in the Book Bldg.,
features a short-wave (most mod-
ernly advanced method) machine
that scientifically and painlessly
, remwes all unwanted hairs. . . I
vatcNd Rebecca work and, pres-
I now the young lady's leg was
ractically covered with hair, and
now 'twas gone. . . She's reason-
able, too. Her introductory price
will amaze you.

Jackie Green, the prolific com-
edy favorite, again carries off top
honors at Lee "",
'n' Eddie's Sup-
per Club in a
starring combi-
nation which
includes the
new-styled mu-
sic of Sherman
Hayes and his
orchestra. . . .
Hayes, who for-
merly was the Sherman Hayes
singing star of George Olsen's
band (pre-war — Sherman sports
the "bird of liberty," too), has a
definite idea of what his all-ex-
pression rhythms should be and
his ideas expressed by the band
are winning acclaim from his au-
dience . . with the sweet very
danceable beats. . . Lovely Dell
Welcome, former Columbia picture
star and Professor Grubbs are
featured with the Hayes aggrega-
tion. . . Stevey Condos, dancing
star, taps his way into the hearts
of everyone and must respond to
round after round of applause. He
heads the supporting notables . •
which includes the Albins, top-
flight comedy dancers. The pint-
size female half of the team
makes a significant contrast for
the brawny male member. . . And
it's the Dorothy Byton line of
girls who do a dance on stilts
that's both difficult and terrific.

Been waiting for Eve to "swipe"
a picture of friend hubby, Corp.
Jos. Jackson, who was with the
combat engineers, so that we
could use it in Returnees column.
. . But can't be done, and he
doesn't want anyone to know that
he was in five major battles and
received a presidential citation,
the bronze star and what have
you.

Little Sammy Hornstein (I re-
member when he used to play
marbles with my kid brother, Sol-
ly and now Solly has three kids
of his own and WHAT KIDS!)
and his two brothers, Lou and
Max, all just out of service, have
taken over Billy's Steak House
(opposite the Bowl-O-Drome, Dex-
ter and Leslie), re-did it, made it
into another eatery — delicatessen
and restaurant. .. The kids know
their foods . . the location is
ideal and this promises to be-
come rapidly a favorite rendezvous
for "eaters." . . Besiues, they're
gonna be open 'til 3 a.m. Opening
nite is March 26. Good luck, kids.

It's hot! It's torchy! It's real
sweet! It's boogie woogie — It
just fits your mood... It's Bob-
bie's, in the wee hours .. or any
time. .. And soon 'twill be cocktail
hours and Sunday dinners, too.

Just watch for the announcement.

Hey, Eddie, are you a "Pop"
yet? The comments are still plen-
tiful and extremely complimentary
— everyone still saying the food
at the Bali Lounge is OOH LA —
AND IT IS! Al Wyte, that whiz
on the ivories, is still there, too,
as is Jimmy DeLand's Sun Valley
Trio.

Hurry - hurry - hurry • . those
reservations for the Pasover Se-
dorim at Zack's Kosher Catering
are comin' right along, and if you
want to be 'mong those who dine
well and then listen and partici-
pate in those tuneful Passover
melodies . . well, a hint to the
wise should be sufficient, eh?

That very sweet voice that an-
swers "Larry Lawrence Agency,"
when you call RA. 2091 is very
pretty and very cooperative Ber-
nice Leach (Mrs. Freddy L., just
in case any of the Wolves get
ideas)... The cute individual with
the N. Y. "twang", whom you see
'round Latin Quarter, Casanova,
and above all keeping a fatherly
eye on Billy Paye, the sing-sation-
al "find", is Ben Lerner. . . 'Tis
Jean Harris, tho, that has to
tighten up the reins and call a
halt if anyone gets a sudden de-
sire to rear or balk a bit — and
Bobby Baker is the handsome
Romeo and that very popular or-
chestra leader who was with Henry
Busse for so long and at the Chez
Payee, Chicago, for still longer.
. . He's the guy that's delighting
all the "Chicks" at the senior
proms 'round town. . . They just
"luvv" to dance to his music.

'Tis a small world... Lou Bern-
stein was visiting his dad at the
Grace Hospital last week (he's
home now, thank God) and while
going out of the elevator saw a
cot being wheeled on. .. Curiosity
made him take a peek. . . 'Twas
his brother, Sam — pneumonia.
Sam's doing nicely, thank you!

Our hat's off to Michael Wilson
who so untiringly and so energeti-
cally gives of
his time and
resources in ma-
king all those
collections o f
'bundles, pack-
ages and boxes
of food, cloth-
ing, etc., for the
Pisgah Wo-
men's drives.
No matter; Michael Wilson
what time of the day or night, no
matter what part of town, Mr.
Wilson is always alert and ready.

Don't miss the Louis Brandeis
Lodge Dance April 7, at the Book-
Cadillac Hotel. Frank Gagen's Or-
chestra, "featuring lovely Eileen
Faye, vocalist, will highlight the
affair. Bill Brown, chai rms., 1 . . ..Nr.-
ises
.aiii./ttdiir -enjoyable eve-
ning. Sam Dubrinsky is 'ticket
head. Sid Wolfe (Free Press) Is
Souvenir Book and Publicity Di-
rector.

I'll tell you the sequel to the
Colonel story next week... I'm too

tired now. . . It's most 5 a.m. and
I've still got to tell you about the
very lovely selection of suits,
coats, dresses I saw at the Peggy
Ann Frocks out Grand River-Joy
Road way. . . They are of lovely
materials, beautifully made, and
very finely styled . . and above
all — very moderately priced. . .
"Babe" (Beatrice) Sutton deserves
oodles of credit for maintaining
such a high calibre appearance in
a very popularly priced store. . .
Her staff of salesgirls are very
courteous and alert.

Women, girls, everybody! Get
your new shopping bags ready .
and be sure to
attend the very

from 2-4 p.m.
It's being sponsored by the Tem-
ple Israel Sisterhood... Mrs. Sam-
uel B. Danto, president, tells us
there'll be all sorts of home baked
goods, canned goods, hand sewed
things, needlework. . . There'll
even be a fortune teller and a
snack bar and door prizes... Mrs.
Daniel Krouse and Mrs. Roy L
Sarason head the committee on
arrangements. .. Members of the
Men's Club built the booths... All
the ladies on the committee work-
ed soon hard, I wish I had room
to print all their names. Don't
disappoint them, let's have a good
attendance.

It's smart to look ahead! Be
prepared. for emergencies, for edu-
cation, for those later years. .
There's no smarter way than in-
surance. .. The Crown Life In-
surance Co., which has been es-
tablished since 1900 has been in
Detroit for 22 years with down-
town offices for the past 9 years
under the supervision of A. C.
Blumenau, well known Detroiter.
. . Seymour Cohen entered the
service of the company about a
year ago. . . There has been a
rapid growth and development in
the company — both in capacity
and personnel. New men, many of
them returned vets, have been
added to the force. . . They have
just moved down to the 12th floor
where there's ample office space
and adequate facilities so that
each client can be given imme-
diate attention. The Crown Life
Insurance Co. has a policy to suit
your need.

'Twas a toss-up during the B.B.
Bowling Tournament in Chicago
recently, whether Johnny Lewis

(Note -- This is my letter for the
week.)

Heard part of a rehearsal of
Artie Fields' Orchestra 'tother
day. .. 'Tis going to be startling-
ly sensation. The band's composed
of high calibre "name band" mu-
sicians, the library boasts some
very excellent arrangements. . .
Art is going to feature a Glee
Club that promises to be a sing-
sational. . . Bernie Green (New
York) featured on electric guitar
and what he can do with those
strings just "aint in the books";
it's.crooner Doug Ryan and lovely
Dottie Green on the vocals. .
The ingredients are good; the
leader knows what a baton's for
— it must be good!

Saw Ellen Carson (Mrs. Harry)
walking thru the halls at the Se-
ville looking veddy Miamyish, in
her white long-coated slack suit.
. . I don't know whether 'tis still
the Florida tan or the reflection
of the lovelight in her orbs that
makes Ellen look so radiant. .
Eleanor King looked very much
Floridian, too. . . She just came
back up north. . . Lucky gals.

The Detroit Lodge Auxiliary
sent out their first assignment of
8 - 11 lb. packages for the "Adopt-
A-Family" program, the latest BB
project. Each auxiliary has the
responsibility for the provision of
eight families. Sigrid Ruby is the
chairman for the Detroit Auxil-
iary for this project. She is very
adequately assisted by Gretal
Frank, whose home has become
the packing center. Lee Shakne,
canned good chairman, reports 200
lbs. of canned food also shipped
this past week to the Victory Can-
ned Food Collection.
