Hayes, who for- merly was the Sherman Hayes singing star of George Olsen's band (pre-war — Sherman sports the "bird of liberty," too), has a definite idea of what his all-ex- pression rhythms should be and his ideas expressed by the band are winning acclaim from his au- dience . . with the sweet very danceable beats. . . Lovely Dell Welcome, former Columbia picture star and Professor Grubbs are featured with the Hayes aggrega- tion. . . Stevey Condos, dancing star, taps his way into the hearts of everyone and must respond to round after round of applause. He heads the supporting notables . • which includes the Albins, top- flight comedy dancers. The pint- size female half of the team makes a significant contrast for the brawny male member. . . And it's the Dorothy Byton line of girls who do a dance on stilts that's both difficult and terrific. • Been waiting for Eve to "swipe" a picture of friend hubby, Corp. Jos. The comments are still plen- tiful and extremely complimentary — everyone still saying the food at the Bali Lounge is OOH LA — AND IT IS! Al Wyte, that whiz on the ivories, is still there, too, as is Jimmy DeLand's Sun Valley Trio. • Hurry - hurry - hurry • . those reservations for the Pasover Se- dorim at Zack's Kosher Catering are comin' right along, and if you want to be 'mong those who dine well and then listen and partici- pate in those tuneful Passover melodies . . well, a hint to the wise should be sufficient, eh? • That very sweet voice that an- swers "Larry Lawrence Agency," when you call RA. 2091 is very pretty and very cooperative Ber- nice Leach (Mrs. Freddy L., just in case any of the Wolves get ideas)... The cute individual with the N. Y. "twang", whom you see 'round Latin Quarter, Casanova, and above all keeping a fatherly eye on Billy Paye, the sing-sation- al "find", is Ben Lerner. . . 'Tis Jean Harris, tho, that has to tighten up the reins and call a halt if anyone gets a sudden de- sire to rear or balk a bit — and Bobby Baker is the handsome Romeo and that very popular or- chestra leader who was with Henry Busse for so long and at the Chez Payee, Chicago, for still longer. . . He's the guy that's delighting all the "Chicks" at the senior proms 'round town. . . They just "luvv" to dance to his music. • 'Tis a small world...
