New Campaign
To Get Clothing
A. special appeal for all types
of men's, women's and children's
clothing is now being made
throughout the country by the
S.O.S. Collection of Supplies for
Overseas Survivors, sponsored by
the Joint Distribution Committee
to provide 20,000,000 additional
pounds of contributed relief sup-
plies for Jewish survivors over-
seas.
Contributions of clothing, food-
stuffs, medical and other relief
supplies are over and above cash
donations to the United Jewish
Appeal, from which the Joint Dis-
tribution Committee receives its
operating funds.
Mrs. Nathan Straus, National
Chairman of the S.O.S. Collection,
in announcing the opening of the
clothing drive recently, said that
wearing apparel had not been in-
cluded earlier in the S.O.S. Col-
lection in order to permit full co-
operation with the United Victory
Clothing Drive which officially
ended February 15.
Sixteen Jewish national and wo-
men's organizations are now par-
ticipating In the S.O.S. Collection.

The next meeting of the dele-
gates to the Jewish Community
Council, scheduled for Monday
evening, March 25, at the Jewish
Community Center, will feature a
report on the recent session of the
American Jewish Conference and
a discussion on the 1946 United
Jewish Appeal $2,000,000 campaign.
Detroit's delegates to the Amer-
ican Jewish Conference who at-
tended the Conference sessions in
Cleveland during February have
been invited to submit their re-
ports to Detroit Jewry from the
Community Council platform. Sim-
ilar report meetings have been
held by the Community Council
following the first and second ses-
sions of the Conference. The Com-
munity Council delegates voted
support for the program of the
Conference following the first ses-
sion of the Conference in 1943.
Council delegates will give con-
sideration to the resolutions on
reorganization of the American
Jewish Conference for future ef-
forts on behalf of the American
Jewish community.
The forthcoming $2,000,000 cam-
paign for the United Jewish Ap-
peal, which is being conducted by
the Allied Jewish Campaign, will
be presented to the Council dele-
gates by a spokesman of the Jew-
ish Welfare Federation and De-
troit Service Croup. The meeting
is open to the public.

annual Purim program on Satur-
day evening, March 16, in the
Rose Sittig Cohen Building.
Michael Michlin Is chairman of
the event. Participants are Solo-
mon Kasdan, Aaron Toback, and
Rae Sulkes Ettinger. Abraham
Schachter will be in charge of
community singing.
Maurice H. Zackheim, chairman
of the Board of Education of the
United Hebrew Schools, Joseph
Haggai, Bernard Isaacs, Meyer
Mathis, and Morris Lachover,
chairman, will participate in the
next cultural meeting of the Kvu-
tzah Ivrith being held on Satur-
day evening, March 30, at the
Rose Sittig Cohen Building.

sponsors of the Yeshivath Chach-
mey Lublin when • Lee Gold and
Harry Schumer were added to the
list of contributors. In addition,

One may become a sponsor of
the Yeshivah, which has endeav-
