U. of M. Hillel

Following an address made by
Rabbi Jehudah M. Cohen, Di-
rector of the Bnai Brith Hillel
Foundation of the University of
Michigan, at its November meet-
ing., the Ann Arbor Ministerial
Association acted favorably up-
on a motion to urge Michigaa
senators and congressmen to
support the Palestine Resolution
soon to be debated in Congress.
Letters endorsing the Palestine
Resolution, which will recom-
mend strongly the opening of
Palestine to increased Jewish im-
migration, were sent to Sena-
tors Arthur Vandenburg and Ho-
mer Ferguson and Congressman
Mitchener.

For the first time in Bnai

Speaks at Dinner

An economic program for Pal-
embracing greater indus-
rial and agricultural develop-
nent, was outlined on Thursday
vening, Nov. 15, at a dinner
meetin g held at the Statler Ho-
t I by a group of Detroit's Jew-
'.h
called together by
Fred M. Butzel who presided.
Invited especially from New
ark to address the Detroit
group, Edward A. Norman, a di-
t , 'etor of the Palestine Economic
Corporation and chairman of its
ommittee on capital expansion,
told of the vital role played by
.1 merican capital in the econom-
ic growth of the Holy Land. He
described the progress made (lur-
ing th e past twenty years and
-xplained the Corporation's pres-
"It efforts to expand its opera-
tions and thus to aid in increas-
ing Palestine's economic absorp-
tive capacity.
Mr. Norman revealed that the
orporation is the largest Amer-
ican enterprise in Palestine, op-

crating through subsidiaries and
investments in the major econ-
omic fields; banking and credit,
irrigation, building, electric
power, hotels, chemicals and land
development.
He explained that investment
in the Palestine Economic Cor-
poration not only promised great
aid for establishing homes for
economically displaced persons
in Palestine but at the same
time offered an opportunity for
making money.
"Palestine is a going concern,"
he said. "For the past twenty
years, our investments have
made money and they will con-
tinue to do so."
