cel form. The purchase of goods
in Palestine has given substan-
tial support to industrial produc-
tion there.
The Iranian government per-
mitted the J.D.C. to establish a
branch post office in its Teheran
warehouses to expedite the for-
warding of packages. The cost of
about a third of the food par-
cels was defrayed by individuals
seeking to aid relatives. J.D.C.
provided money or goods for the
other two-thirds.
Mr. Passman disclosed that the
South African Jewish War Ap-
peal had participated fully in the
work of aiding the Polish Jew-
ish and other refugees cooperat-
ing closely with the J.D.C. In
addition special allocations, in-
cluding 25,000 pounds for the
Jewish community in Hungary,
were made available to the J.
D.C.

government's policy of "assimila-
