The production has a timely
story, which concerns a bride
and groom, whose wedding cere-
mony is suddenly interrupted by
that fateful news flash from
Pearl Harbor. The groom leaves
to enlist in the armed forces. He
later shows up as an inmate of
a naval hospital for shell-shock.

performance, at the Scottish Rite
Auditorium of the Masonic Tem-
ple. this Sunday evening, Apr. 22.
The .play, in two acts and 10
scenes, for which Ilya Trilling
and Louis Markowitz composed
a musical score of tuneful folk
songs, just completed a record-
breaking season's run in New
York, where it was hailed by
both the American and Yiddish
press as the outstanding Yiddish
stage success of the year.
It will be presented here with
the original cast including Lillie

Shaarey Zedek
Plans Addition;
Elects Officers

Congregation Shaarey Zedek is
rlanning an addition to house
its expanded school facilities, it
was disclosed by Harry Cohen,
president of the Congregation,
in his annual report. This build-
ing, besides housing added class
rooms, would also serve for soc-
ial functions for the sons and
daughters of Shaarey Zedek
members. A committee will be
named shortly to inaugurate a
drive for funds to pay for such
a building.
The Congregation has embark-
ed on a new venture aimed to
appeal to boys and girls from
14 to 17. Social functions are
being planned every Saturday
night for these young people.
Harry Cohen was re-elected
president and Harry M. Shulman,
vice president, of Congregation
Shaarey Zedek at the annual
meeting April 11. Robert Mar-
wil was named secretary, re-
placing Charles A. Smith, and
Isaac
Friedman was elected
treasurer, succeeding David S.
Friedman.

Chaplain Goldberg
To Speak at Center
Monday Evening

Community Center, at 8:30 p. no.
Monday, April 23. Chaplain
Goldberg's subject will be "The
Jew in the World Today". Chap-
lain Goldberg has recently re-
turned from an overseas trip to
front lines in the Western thea-
ter.

Goldberg's
lecture
will be given under the auspices
of the adult education commit-
tee of the Jewish Community
Center. of which Morris Garvett
is chairman. There will be no
admission charge.
The chairman of the evening
will be Samuel H. Rubiner, vice
ltesident of the Center.

The Bicur Cholem Seniors of
Detroit, at a special meeting at
the home of Mrs. Charlip, pledg-
ed $5,000 to the Jewish Hospital
Association Building Fund. The
meeting was addressed by A. J.
Lachover, volunteer solicitor for
the Jewish Hospital Association.
Mrs. Lena Techner, president
of the Bicur Cholem, Mrs. Lottie
Wanger, Mrs. E. Golden, Mrs. L.
Farber, Mrs. Celia Margoles and
Mrs. Lena Schwartz, co-signers
of the pledge, asked that a pa-
,ients' or visitors' room be dedi-
cated in honor of the Bicur Cho-
lem of Detroit, Mrs. Ida Solai,
one of the veteran members of
the organization, having been its
president for about 18 years,
turned over bonds in the amount
of $2,100, representing funds of
the organization, as an initial
payment on this pledge.
The Bicur Cholem was organ-
ized about 50 years ago by a
small group of women who would
get together, knit and sew chil-
dren's wear and contribute them
to needy families for their new-
ly born infants. The proceeds
derived from membership fees,
voluntary contributions and from
the annual affair, is used by the
organization towards extending
medical aid to needy families.
The 51st anniversary banquet
will be held Sunday afternoon
at Bnai David Social Hall, Eum-
hurst and Fourteenth.
