DETROIT JEWISH CHRONICLE and The Loolal Chronicle
GENEVA (Palcor) — Heinrich
Himmler, chief of the Gestapo,
has declared himself ready to
release, on certain conditions,
large numbers of Jews in Ger-
man ghettos and slave labor
camps, Himmler's conditions were
submitted by Monsieur Musy,
former member of the Swiss
Federal Council; who negotiated
the release of 1,200 Jews from
Theresienstadt, and to Professor
Carl Burchardt, president of the
International Red Cross, recent-
ly appointed Swiss Minister to
Paris.
That important negotiations
for the rescue of German Jews
were under way was revealed
also in a statement issued by
the Geneva Office of the World
Jewish Congress. The statement
read:
"Dr. A. Leon Kubowitzki, res-
cue emissary of the World Jew-
ish Congress. was received suc-
cessively by Professor Burckhardt,
u•esident of the International
Red Cross, and by Herr Von
Stiger. president of the Swiss
Confederation, for a discussion
of matters concerning the prob-
lem of rescuing the Jewish rem-
nants in Germany. Important
developments in this matter are
expected within the next few
days."
