Senate -Committee Asked to
Shelve Palestine Resolution

Opposed to Action at Present Because
Of Current International Situation
WASHINGTON (WNS).—Acting on the advice of
the State Department, the Senate Foreign Relations Com-
mittee this week shelved, by a vote of 8 to 12, the
Wagner-Taft Palestine Resolution calling for free and
unrestricted Jewish immigration into Palestine and the
ultimate establishment there of a Jewish Commonwealth.

After the decision of the com-
mittee was announced, the State
Department issued a statement
that it was opposed to present
action on the resolution because
'
of the current international sit-
uation. The statement said that
