Max Shiener, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Sam Shiener of 2490 Grand
Ave., W., was promoted to Cap-
tain. Max entered the service
on March 20, 1941, as a private.
He is in the chemical warfare
attached to the air transport
supply, somewhere in India. Max
is a graduate of Detroit Insti-
tute of Technology Pharmacy
School and was associated with
his brother, Phillip, in the drug
business prior to entering the
service.

In order to discuss the impor-
tant decisions arrived at during
the Hadassah national convention
of chapter and group presidents,
just held in Cleveland, the board
members of all four Hadassah
groups will bold a joint lunch-
eon meeting at the Belcrest next
Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 12:30. Mrs.
Louis Glasier, Detroit Chapter
president, will preside at the
meeting, scheduled for 1:30.
Discussion will be centered up-
on two new projects adopted by
National Hadassah, to be carried
out by all chapters. These pro-
jects are the Youth Commission
and a new Tuberculosis Hospital,
of 200 to 250 beds, which will
be erected as an addition to the
Rothschild - Hadassah University
Hospital on Mt. Scopus. The De-
troit delegates have returned with
information concerning these pro-
jects of interest to all members.
The luncheon at $1.25 is op-
tional, but reservations must be
made by Sunday, Nov. 26, as
