Japan's fate after the war will
be discussed by Robert Bellaire,
former United Press Bureau Chief
in Tokyo, in his lecture at De-
troit Town Hall in the Fisher
Theater, Wednesday morning,
Oct. 18. His subject will be
"Jap Victory Plan."
A prisoner in one of Japan's
foulest prison camps where he
was severely beaten and tor-
tured, Bellaire had ample oppor-
tunity to study the workings of
the enemy's mind.
The correspondent had his
ground work in reporting on
newspapers in the United States
before joining the United Press
Foreign Service.
Reservations for the Bellaire
lecture may be obtained at Grin-

Capt. A. Max Kohn,
Well Known Pediatri-
cian, Promoted to Major

Capt. A. Max Kohn, formerly
a pediatrician in the Maccabees
Bldg., was promoted to Major
after completing seven crossings
to England. Major Kohn was ac-
tive in Jewish society and organ-
izations in Detroit. He is now
spending a 10-day leave with his
wife, Rose, at 17 West 67th St.,
New York City. Mrs. Kohn is
active in radio script work at
present.

The third annual season of the
Holiday Hops will begin Oct. 15,
with a gala dance featuring Phil
Brestoff. musical director of the
Michigan Theater and Statler
Hotel, and his renowned orches-
tra, plus a surprise vocalist.
This dance, which will be a
post-Succoth affair, will begin at
p. m. Admission for Center
members will be 75c. for none-
members, $1.00. tax included.
Estelle Starr and Ben Brit-
man are co-chairmen for the
(lance and are assisted by an able
committee. Rose Brooks Levine
is in charge of decorations.
Refreshments will be made
available throughout the evening.

Registration Now Going
On at Hebrew Schools

Registration of new pupils is
now in progress in all the
branches of the United Hebrew
Schools where arrangements
have been made for the opening
of classes for beginners of all
ages, and also for advanced stu-
dents. Each branch of the United
Hebrew Schools has also a Bar
Mitzvah class where boys of the
Bar Mitzvah age are fully pre-
pared for the Haftorah, Bar
Mitzvah ceremony and everything
pertaining to this religious ob-
servance.
The pre-school, which meets in
the Rose Sittig Cohen Bldg. each
morning from 10 to 12, has also
made provision for the opening
of an additional class for the
children of the tender age of
four. A well prepared pedagogic-
ally equipped kindergarten is in
charge of this class.

Eva Prenzlauer Aid
To Hold Meeting Oct. 17

The 12th annual tio.ior lunch-
eon of Eva Prenzlauer Maternity
Aid, which will take place on
Wednesday, Dec. 27, will be held
at the Book-Cadillac Hotel In
the Italian Gardens.
Mrs. M. Mendelsohn is chair-

Mrs. J. Seigel is in charge of
Ads and Mrs. L. Solomon is in
