President Lauds Work
Of United Jewish Appeal
NEW YORK (WNS).—Presi-
dent Roosevelt, endorsing the
$32,000,000 campaign for the
United Jewish Appeal, said, in a
letter made public this week:
"The false philosophies which
have caused such widespread ra-
ial and religious persecutions
'.re fully as abhorrent as the
dreams of world conquest which
have motivated the Nazi regime."
The President's message was
se nt to Rabbi James G. Heller,
William Rosenwald and Rabbi
Jonah B. Wise, chairmen of the
United Jewish Appeal, which is
the fund-raising body for the
Joint Distribution Committee, the
United Palestine Appeal and the
National Refugee Service.
In praising the humanitarian
activities of the United Jewish
Appeal, the President referred to
it "as one of the agencies
through which the American peo-
ple can make their contribution
to the fight for decency, human
dignity and freedom for all to
live in peace."

nity Council and Jewish Commu-
nity Center announces its forth-
coming Passover celebration to
take place Sunday evening, April
9, in the auditorium of the Jew-
ish Community Center, Wood-

to resemble the traditional Seder.
The audience will be seated at
tables and a festive mood will
prevail throughout. A special
Passover program has been pre-.
pared with a number of talented
local individuals scheduled to par-
ticipate. Full details as to the
program will be announced
shortly.
Tickets at 35 cents are avail-
able and will be distributed in
limited amounts among the vari-

been supporting the series of pro-
grams. As the space will be seri-
ously limited, organizations and
individuals who wish to take part
in the program should communi-
cate immediately with the office
of the Jewish Community Coun-
cil and make arrangements to se-
cure the tickets which they wish
to have.
