The President's message was se nt to Rabbi James G. Heller, William Rosenwald and Rabbi Jonah B. Wise, chairmen of the United Jewish Appeal, which is the fund-raising body for the Joint Distribution Committee, the United Palestine Appeal and the National Refugee Service. In praising the humanitarian activities of the United Jewish Appeal, the President referred to it "as one of the agencies through which the American peo- ple can make their contribution to the fight for decency, human dignity and freedom for all to live in peace."
