Overseas Needs and Palestine has been the fund-

for Jewish survival in Europe, Palestine and the
Western Hemisphere have been maintained and
strengthened. Since 1939 the U.J.A. has raised the
record of 875,000,000 for the relief and re-
habilitation activities of the Joint Distribution
Committee, for the upbuilding and defense of the
JeWish homeland in Palestine supported by the
United Palestine Appeal, and for assistance t )

Rabbi Brickner Praises
Morale of American Troops

NEW DELHI (WNS)—Rabbi
Barnett R. Brickner, administra-
tive chairman of the Committee
on Army and Navy Religious Ac-
tivities of the National Jewish
Welfare Board, declared at a'
press conference here that he
was impressed with the morale of
American soldiers here, "espe-
cially in view of the fact the
they are leading routine, lives and
do not have the stimulus of com-
bat."
Declaring that he found ,t
greater proportion of service men
attending religious services than
among civilians at home, Rabbi
Brickner said that lie was par-
ticularly gratified by the effort•;
of Catholic and Protestant chap-
lains in arranging religious serv-
ices for Jewish soldiers and sail-
ors in areas where no Jewish
chaplains were available. "If this
inter-faith understanding and co-
operation were carried over into
civilian life after the war," he
asserted, "it would give us an
entirely new America."
