Vichy Attacks De Gaulle
For Appeasing Arabs

GENVEA (WNS)—The Vichy
radio, notorious for its obedience
to the Nazi overlords, broadcast
an attack on General Charles De
Gaulle, charging that he was "ap-
peasing the Arabs" by relegat-
ing Jews to minor positions in
his government while elevating
Arabs to high governmental offi-
ces, according to a Paris radio
broadcast picked up here this
week.
This inexplicable change of tac-
tics is puzzling in view of the
fact that the Vichy radio had
been used by the Nazis to broad-
cast anti-Jewish propaganda to
the Arabs in North Africa. In a
recent broadcast to the Arabs, the
Vichy radio was heard saying
that General de Gaulle was serv-
ing Jewish interests and that he
was planning to sell the Arabs
down the river to the Jews. This
reversal of tactics was believed
to be a Nazi trick to stir up
friction between the Jews and
Arabs.
