Habonim Organizes
DETROIT JEWISH
CHRONICLE and The
• ENGAGEMENTS
Older Group Here
. A new youth group, comprised
of young men and women of col-
lege age, is being organized by
the Ilabinim, Labor Zionist Youth.
One of the primary purposes
of this group is to provide a
permanent structure for the many
labor Zionist youth in the com-
munity who have at one time or
another been affiliated with organi-
zations which have no active adult
program. It is also felt by the
leaders of Ilabonim that many
would-be Zionists, who have pre-
viously found no place in which
they could express themselves ade-
quately, will be activised in such
a group.
Emphasis will be placed upon
political work in the Jewish com-
munity, including active partici-
pation in the Zionist Youth Coun-
cil and the League for Detroit
Jewish Youth. Among the other
tentative activities of the group
are leadedship of younger groups,
fund-raising, summer camp work,
participation in Hechalutz, cultur-
al and social activities, and vari-
ous cooperative enterprises.
Young men and women who
are vitally interested in militant
Zionist activity are invited to
attend the first meeting of this
group, to be held this Sunday
evening, Nov. 15, 8 p. m., at the
Farband Shule, 1812 Taylor. Paul
Milgrom, of Chicago, who is in
charge of organization of Detroit
Ilabonim this year, will explain
the program of Habonim and the
purposes of the group. Movies of
three of the Habonim summer
camps and of the two Hechalutz
training farms will be shown,
with narration by Naomi Shapiro,
who was a member of the Cream
Ridge farm for two years. The
program will be closed with com-
munity singing, dancing, and re-
freshments. Harold Greenberg
will preside.
