Attacks on non-Jewish doctors
who rendered medical aid to Jews
were featured in many of the
Dutch periodicals reaching here.
The papers charged the doctors
with issuing medical certificates
to Jews to help them receive
exemptions from forced labor.
One of the periodicals declared
that if the Nazis "were to give
credence to the medical certifi-
cates," three quarters of the en-
tire Jewish population in Holland
"would have to be regarded as
(lying people." Many of the pa-
pers demanded that doctors found
aiding Jews thus should be treat-
ed as "sabotours" subject to the
same fate as the Jews.

Soviet Officials Address
Palestine Jews First Time

JERUSALEM ( WNS) — The
new bond of friendship between
Soviet Russia and the Palestine
Jewish community was strength-
ened this week when, for the
first time since the Russian Revo-
lution Soviet officials came to
this country to address a Jewish
meeting.
Potrenko, first secretary of the
Soviet Embassy in Ankara, ac-
companied by the press attache
of the Embassy, arrived here to
attend a special conference spon-
sored by the Palestine League to
Aid Russia. The meeting was
opened by Dr. Shlomo Kaplanski,
Histadruth leader with more than
400 delegates from all parts of
Palestine present.
During the trip from Haifa the
Soviet Envoys visited a Jewish
colony operated along lines sim-
ilar to the collective settlements
in Russia. The visitors appeared
impressed with the accomplish-
ments of the Jewish colonists.
Potrenko concluded a brief mes-
sage to the Jewish settlers with
the Hebrew words "Shalom
Chaverin."
A statement issued by the
Palestine League to Aid Russia
said:
"The League is based on Zion-
ist conceptions aiming at a re-
approachment between the Yis-
huv and Russia and the render-
ing of maximum assistance to the
Russian heroic struggle against
Fascism."
