Parent Teacher Association has
been organized at a meeting held
recently at Central High. The
following were elected officers:
President, Mrs. Samuel Gaull;
secretary, Mrs. Rudolph Shulman;
executive committee, Harold IVein-
garden, Samuel Weisman, Mrs.
Harold Shatzen, Miss Isaacs and
J. M. Mathis, principal of the Cen-
tral High branch of the United
Hebrew schools.
The new P. T. A. unit is plan-
ning an active and interesting
program for next year. The next
meeting will be held in the fall.

stitutions included in the com-

tions to the 14 institutions. For
almost two years, since the out-
break of the war, the representa-
tives of these Yeshivoth did not
solicit here independently, nor
will they visit Detroit during the
coming year. The 2500 students
are enrolled in the 14 large Rab-
binical academies and 10 smaller
ones, now operating in Lithu-
ania. Since the JDC has been
forced to discontinue its work
in Soviet territory, no outside
help reaches the institutions.
Monies raised here are forward-
ed directly to the beneficiaries.
A JTA dispatch from London,

Soviet officials in Lithuania have
recently shown a milder attitude
toward Jewish institutions in
that territory. The established
Yeshivoth of Telshe, Kelem, Pon-
