Abraham Srere, Women's Divi-
sion chairman.
Berlin correspondent for the
New York Post, Mr. Fischer
probed the secret of Hitler's
character and first wrote about
him in 1925. The recipient of
many journalistic distinctions, he
is now writing a book covering
the highlights of his experiences
in Europe and is in constant
touch with the leading officials
and diplomats.
Regarded as one of the most
astute observers and commentat-
ors on developments in Europe
during the past decade, Mr. Fis-
cher has interviewed virtually all
the important European states-
men, and has made a special
study of liberal sentiment con-
cerning the war.
Lauded by Mrs. F. D. R.
Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt,
among many others, has praised
Mr. Fischer's understanding of
central European affairs. His
analysis of the factors in totali-
tarianism's rise in Europe and
its threat to civilization every-
where, including America, car-
ries particular weight.
Mr. Fischer went to Europe in
1921 as a correspondent for the
New York Evening Post. In 1922
he went on to Soviet Russia and
made Moscow his headquarters
until the outbreak of the war
in Spain. He made frequent and
long visits, however, into Ger-
many and Italy, and what was
Austria, Czechoslovakia and
France.
His years in Russia provided
him with the material for his
book, "The Soviets in World
Affairs," which is regarded as a
standard reference for all stu-
dents of Russian activities. His
other books include: "Oil Im-

The annual congregation Seder
of Temple Beth El will be held
in the social hall of the Temple
on Saturday, April 12, at 6:30.
The ritual service will be read by
the rabbis, and traditional Seder
music will be sung under the di-
rection of George Galvani. Be-
cause so many members of the
Temple will wish to participate
in this service, it has become
necessary to limit attendance to
the households of members and
their guests. Recent immigres,
without other facilities for par-
ticipating in the Seder, will, how-
ever, be cared for.
Closing Passover Service
Festival services for the seventh
day of Passover will be observed
at Temple Beth El, Friday morn-
ing, April 18, at 10:30. Rabbi
Leon Fram will preach on the
subject: "The New Egypt and
the New Exodus."

There will be no special chil-
dren's service that morning. The
children are invited to come with
their parents to the main audi-
torium of the Temple.
George Galvani and a special
quartet will render the musical
background of the service.
Sabbath Eve Services
At the Sabbath Eve. services,
on Friday, April 18, at 8 p.
Dr. Lee M. Franklin will speak
on the subject, "An Old Platform
and a New Program for Reform
Judaism."
The music on this occasion will
be rendered by the Temple choir
under the direction of Mr. Gal-
vani, with Jason Tickton at the
organ.
The services will, as always,
be followed by a social hour un-
der the auspices of the Temple
Sisterhood.
