A JOYOUS CHANUKAH TO ALL!

Above are shown 11 of the 20 Jewish students from Germany
that have been rescued by the Ner Israel Rabbinical College of
Baltimore. These 11 are now completing their rabbinical studies
at the college. Four others similarly rescued are now awaiting
transportation from London.
Ner Israel, miniature "League of Nations" for the ordaining
and training of rabbis, has just purchased a large tract of land
upon which is to be erected a new building. The institution deserves
the sobriquet of "League of Nations" since the roster of more
than 80 boys includes students representing 17 states in the Union
and four provinces in Canada as well as Palestine, Poland, Austria,
Czechoslovakia and Germany.
Ner Israel was founded seven years ago by Rabbi Jacob I
Ruderman, who has been serving as dean since inception. The new
building will have accommodations for 150 students.
Rabbi Samson Weiss, now head of Yeshiva in Detroit, formerly
was on the Ner Israel faculty.

and finished artistry in this work,
and Mis Feiner acquires a note-
worthy position in the literary
world.
Born just as her parents had
hieembarked in Germany after
the English steamer brought them
there from London, Miss Feiner's
early years were spent behind
the stage watching her father
as actor, playwright and produc-
er. She wrote short stories and
songs, won a newspaper prize
for performing her own songs in
a cabaret, secured a song-writing
contract from Ufa Film Co., was
heard on the radio from Berlin
and Cologne and was warned to
leave Germany upon the advent
of Hitler when her songs were
sung throughout her native land.
She lived in poverty in London
as an exile until she managed to
make her mark as a novelist.

The Role of Palestine

Palestine will become a cul-
tural home for all Jews, a refuge
for the worst sufferers from op-
pression, a field of activity for
the best among us, a unifying
ideal and a source of spiritual
health for the Jews of every

country.
