between Fascist students, led by

was followed up by anti-Jewish
riots in the Jewish quarter by
Fascist students, it was disclosed
here.
After police intervened in the
clash between the students, the
Fascist group invaded the Jewish
quarter, beating Jews on the
streets and smashing the windows
of Jewish-owned stores. Several
Jewish stores were destroyed. A
number of Fascist students were
arrested, the police announced.
One of the main cultural ac-
tivities of the Histadruth Ivrith,
the Hebrew Cultural Organiza-
tion of America, is to assemble
the best creative works of the
Hebrew writers in America and
to publish them in a year book.
The fifth year book, rich in ma-
terial and varied in content, has
just appeared. Poetry and prose,
essays and scientific articles by
the most distinguished Hebrew
poets, writers, essayists and
scientists are all fully represent-
ed in the year book. There are
poems written by such outstand-
ing Hebrew poets as S. Shneaur,
S. Tche•nichowsky, H. Bavli, S.
Ginsberg; essays by Sh Myrski,
M. Ribalow and Dr. E. Bernstein.
A special psychological study on
the science of physiognomy,
written by the known educational
psychologist, N. Turoff, irk one
of the features.
Of special interest and of an
entirely unique character is the
last section of the book which is
devoted completely to the life
of the Jewish people in Amer-
ica. This section includes 10 in-
formative articles on various
phases of American Jewish life.
The Kvutzah Ivrith of Detroit
is, therefore, arranging a special
evening devoted entirely to this
yea•-book. On Saturday evening,
Dec. 7, at 8:30 o'clock, Bernard
Isaacs, superintendent of the
United Hebrew Schools of De-
troit, will give a critical review
of the book. The lecture will take
place at the Rose Sittig Cohen
Building, Lawton and Tyler. The
Hebrew speaking public of De-
troit is cordially invited. There
is no admission charge.
Services for children below the
age of 12 are held every Sab-
bath morning at 10:30 in the
prayer room in the main building.
The following have been chosen
to serve as officers:
Eliot Charlip, president; Elea-
nor Cullen, vice-president; Shula-
mith Adler, secretary; Fred Bar-
net, treasurer.
The teachers of the daily ITN- .,
gious school are in charge.
