The Ladies Auxiliary of Kvut-
zah Ivrith met at the home of
Mrs. F. Hassin and made plans
for the annual donor luncheon,
to take place Feb. 12.
The newly elected president,
Mrs. A. D. Markson, presided.
Mrs. B. Tellis gave an inter-
esting talk on the life of famous
Jewish women and the part they
played in the history of Jewish
life.
To make the sixth annual donor
luncheon a success, the following
ladies are serving on the com-
mittee: Mrs. S. Schubiner, gen-
eral chairman, and co-chairmen,
Mesdames D. Rubenstein, A. De-
Roven, S. Leinoff, S. Munch, H.
Rosenbloom, J. Rabinowitz, M.
Winokur, M. Feldman, A. Pan-

Silverstein, M. Rappaport.
Mrs. D. Rubenstein was placed
by acclamation on the list of
honorary presidents for the work
she performed for this organiza-

Tuesday Evening

Detroit Lodge, No. 55, Knights
of Pythias, extends an invitation
to all Pythians, their wives and
friends to attend an open meet-
ing to be held on Tuesday eve-
ning, Dec. 10, at Detroit Lodge
Building Castle Hall, Erskine
and John Rr. St.
The cultural committee headed
by Frank Hoffman, chairman, has
arranged to have two prominent
speakers, on Americanism and
national defense, followed by a
musical program. Raymond J.
Kelly, past national commander
of the American Legion, will
speak on "Americanism and what
it means to an American." Ever-
ett DeRyke, executive secretary
of the Michigan National De-
fense Commission will speak on
"Our part in the national defense
program." Music will be furnished
by Fred W. Beaudry Post, No.
126, American Legion Drum and
Bugle Corps. Songs will be ren-
dered by Miss Marjorie Kimmel-
stiel, accompanied by Mrs. Irene
Kimmelstiel. The program will
start at 8 p. m. sharp. Admis-
sion is free.
This program will be broadcast
over station WXYZ.

"Position of European Jewry"

at Sabbath Eve Forum

Congregation Beth Tefilo Eman-
uel, Taylor and Woodrow Wil-

son Ayes., will have as guest
speaker at its Friday evening
forum, Dec. 13, at 8:15 p. m.,
Meyer Edelbaum, associate ed-
itor of the Jewish Times of Lon-
don, England.
Mr. Edelbaum arrived in the
United States several weeks ago
for a brief visit, and has come
to Detroit in the interests of the
League for Religious Labor in
Palestine. He has long been ac-
tive in Zionism, and is a deputy
member of the Actions Commit-
tee. He is leader of the Torah
Va-Avodah movement in Great
Britain and has played an im-
portant part in the communal
life of English Jewry.
In his address Mr. Edelbaum
will describe the present clay
situation of Jewry in Europe as
effected by the Nazi conquests
and the battle of England. Dis-
cussions will follow the lecture
and a social hour will, as usual,
close the program. Cantor Hy-
man Schulsinger will lead the
congregational singing. Rabbi
Max J. Wohlgelernted will pre-
sent Mr. Edelbaum.

at the donor luncheon, to be spon-
sored by the Sisters of Zion
Mizrachi, on Tuesday, Dec. 17,
at the social hall of the Shaarey
Zedek.
A dramatic presentation, "Our
Guiding Light," written by Mrs.
Joshua S. Sperka, will be pre-
sented by the Dramatic Group of
the Sisterhood of Congregation
Bnai David.
The chairman, Mrs. Abraham
Danzig, and co-chairman, Mrs.
Isaac Shetzer, are looking for-
ward to a large attendance at the
luncheon.

The last pep rally meeting will
be held by the chapter on Wed-

Miss Dera Teplitz, national
president of the Junior National
Council of Jewish Women, will be
a guest in Detroit on Dec. 15 to
address the local Council Juniors
