Claudette Colbert, who ought
to know, insists she isn't plan-
ning any separation from Dr.
Joel Pressman, and that, in fact,
their marriage is Hollywood's
happiest.
Bane of Washington motorists
is Supreme Court Justice Felix
Frankfurter, who is addicted to
the very bad habit of reading
while he strolls along the street.
and sometimes forgets to lift his
eyes from his book while navi-
gating a crossing.
Violinist Efrem Zimbalist can
play a lot of different instru-
ments, including some fancy Ori-
ental string and gourd contrap-
tions whose names are far be-
yond us . . . As for violinist
Jascha Heifetz, who owns one of
the world's most valuable Stra-
divarius fiddles, he has a special
aluminum instrument that he
uses for finger-limbering practice.
Congratulations to the Joint
Distribution Committee's Paul
Baerwald on the arrival of a
new granddaughter . . . Her
papa is Dr. Henry Doubilet, for-
merly of Montreal and now one
of New York's rising young sur-
geons . . . And felicitations to
Milwaukee on the acquisition of
a charming newcomer in the per-
son of Mrs. Leonard Simpson
Markson . . . Before her recent
marriage to young Dr. Markson
she was Edith Sherin, whom last
year's Palestine Pavilion visitors
will remember as Director Meyer
Weisgal's pretty blonde secretary.

WASHINGTON BLVD. AT GRAND RIVER
The Savarine Hotel, East Jef-
ferson at Lenox, opened the most
picturesque spot in Detroit Thurs-
day night when the Fiesta Bar
doors were opened to a capacity
attendance. The serpentine bar,
chummy corner seats, subdued
lighting effects and the typical
Spanish murals, which were done
by the famous New York artist,
Louzini, tend towards making this
a really unique room which prom-
ises to become one of the favor-
ite spot for club visitors.
Valva Nally, the well known
sophisticated singer of songs,
heads the snappy entertainment.
Dancing to the tunes of Johnnie
Johnson's recording orchestra.
The food is excellent and dinners
are served as low as 65 cents.
There is no cover or minimum
charge at any time.
