tech
newspapers have launched a con-
certed attack on Jews in the
United States and Argentina,
charging that the Jews are tak-
ing the initiative in building pro-
Ally and anti-Nazi sentiment in
these two countries, it was
learned here.
The Nazi papers have concen-
trated their venom on Secretary
of Treasury Henry Morgenthau,
Jr., Gov. Herbert H. Lehman of
New York, Bernard Baruch and
Mayor Fiorello H. LaGuardia of
New York City. The editorials
boast that American and Ar-
gentine Jewry will meet the same
fate which befell the Jews of
Europe.
Argentine Jews are charged
with fomenting anti-Nazi disturb-
ances and organizing "pogroms"
on the German colony in that
land. Both the press and radio
threaten revenge in the near fu-
ture.
The entire Jewish community
of Vienna is on the verge of
starvation as a result of the con-
fiscation of food for the use of
the Nazi army, according to a
refugee recently arrived here.
The refugee reported that bread
is a rarity in Vienna and cannot
be had even in the case of sick
persons.

NEW YORK. (WNS)—Docu-
mented information purporting to
prove that Nazi Germany aims
to conquer the United States and
parts of Latin America has been
sent to President Roosevelt, Sec-
retary of State Cordell Hull and
other government officials by L.
M. Birkhead, national director
of Friends of Democracy, Inc.,
in a memorandum containing ma-
terial taken from "official and
semi-official" German sources.
Declaring that the material
proves "beyond a shadow of a
doubt that military conquest Of
the United States and other re-
publics in the Western Hemi-
sphere is a definite part of the
present German policy," the
memorandum charges that Ger-
many has given serious thought
to a "workable strategy and tac-
tics necessary for the achieve-
ment of this aim."
