The first year of Hillel Exten-
sion at Michigan State College
has seen a round of activity under
the leadership of Rabbi Arthur
Zuckerman. The emergence of the
former "Brandeis Forum," led by
the present Hillel director, into a
Hillel Unit has meant the coming-
of-age of the Jewish student
group on the Michigan State Cam-
pus.
In the year 1939-40 the Bran-
deis Forum sponsored classes in
Hebrew and Jewish history, taught
by the present director.
In April, 1939, on the initiative
of the Brandeis Forum, represen-
tatives of the various denomina-
tional groups met to discuss the
advisability of petitioning the col-
lege administration for the use of
a vacant building as a religious
union, and precipitated the for-
mation of an organization known
as the Campus Inter-Faith Coun-
cil.
The most significant project
of the Inter-Faith Council this
year is the sponsoring of three
vesper services during the last
Sundays in May on the general
topic "Bases of Our Faith: Our
Bible, Our Fellowship, Our God."
Forum meetings have been held
on alternate Sundays throughout
the year. Speakers included Rabbi
Elmer Berger of Flint, Rabbi Ber-
nard Zeiger of Jackson, Dr. E.
Snyder of Lansing, Dr. Madison
Kuhn of the history department
of M. S. C., Rev. Mr. William
