Bring Results
To The Detroit Jewish
Chronicle:
I must say a word of com-
mendation, and to encourage
your readers to advertise in
The Detroit Jewish Chronicle.
Last week I ran two ads-
one in The Detroit Jewish
Chronicle and one in another
Detroit newspaper. I received
about 50 calls, of which over
40 said they were responding
to the advertisement in The
Chronicle.
Therefore, I am a booster of
The Chronicle. For results, I
urge advertising in The Chron-
icle.
Yours in appreciation,

Can you imagine a Western
film with the Marx Brothers as
cowboys? . . . Hollywood thinks
one is in the wind as the Broth-
ers have bought mechanical
horses, presumably for training
purposes.

A.Z.A. and Christian Youths
to Join in Patriotic
Meeting Feb. 28
The dedication of American
youth to the preservation of the
democracy it loves will be the key-
note of the elaborate "Youth and
Democracy" rally to be presented
by the Detroit and Windsor AZA
Council in conjunction with youth
groups of other denominations in
the auditorium of the Aaron De-
Roy Jewish Community Center on
Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 8 p. m.
Youth speakers from their var-
ious organizations will discuss the
following topics: "The Place of
Labor in a Democracy," "Minor-
ity Prejudices Against Minority
Groups," "How Free Should Free
Speech Be," and "Youths' Vision
of American Democracy."
The new movies, "'The Man
Without a Country" and "The
Right Way," will be shown.
Rev. Paul II. Buchholz, execu-
tive secretary of the Presbytery
of Detroit and superintendent of
the Presbyterian Board of Exten-
sion, will be chairman for the
rally. Rev, Buchholz formerly was
president of the University of
Dubuque, Ia., and before coming
to Detroit was director of Cali-
fornia Presbyterian Church Coun-
cil.
The Youth and Democracy com-
mittee, composed of members from
the various co-operating youth or-
ganizations, have been working
under the supervision of Max
Chomsky, AZA cultural director,
who has been directing the pro-
gram of events. Present organ-
izations that are jointly sponsor-
ing the program include the 11
AZA chapters in Detroit, Wind-
sor and Mt. Clemens, the four
Junior Auxiliaries of Bnai Brith,
Bethel Evangelical Church, Ply-
mouth Congregational Church,
Neuman Club of Wayne Univer-
sity and DeMolay Chapter. The
Boy Scouts will supply the color
guard and band.
The public is invited to attend
without charge. This rally is one
of several hundred to be held
throughout the country by the
AZA chapters during February.
IN MEMORIAM
In loving memory of our dear
daughter and sister, Lillian
Waratt, who passed away one
year ago, Feb. 22, 1938.
She was called from us by the un-
erring hand of the Creator.
Who doeth all things well, to the
grand association above, in the
20th year of her life.
She was mild, kind, courteous and;
considerate;
As a child she was affectionate and
sympathetic;
As a sister she was loyal, sharing
her joys with her other sisters
and accepting their disappoint-
ments as a part of her own.
Co " like a snowflake; left a mark
but not a slain; she will always
be in our hearts;
There is a law that we are learning
That is helping us each day,
That our Creator sends something
better,
For each thing the takes away,
While our sorrows press upon 115.
And we feel the loss severe,
Ile will follow up the heartache , .
With a blessing, never fear.
Sadly missed by her parents
and sisters.
