The House League, the dele-
gated body representing the en-
tire membership of the Jewish
Community Center, in conjunc-
tion with sonic of the major Jew-
ish youth groups in the commu-
nity, has embarked upon a pro-
gram which will give Jewish
youth the opportunity of express-
ing itself on vital questions of
the day. "Youth Speaks", as the
series of programs will be known,
will reflect youths' opinions on
such questions as war and peace,
Christian-J e w i s h relationships,
Jewish education, religion, voca-
tional guidance, Zionism and
anti-Semitism.
The first program has been
scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 18,
at 8:15 p. m. The discussion will
feature a town-hall forum on the
subject: "Jewish Youth Looks for
a Job." A prominent speaker will
serve as moderator of the pro-
gram and three outstanding Jew-
ish youths from the community
will be the discussants. After
these presentations the audience
will be privileged to enter into
the discussion, directing ques-
tions at any of the speakers. A
social hour will follow the pro-
gram.

are co-sponsoring the "Youth
Speaks" series along with the
House League: Shaarey Zedek
and Temple Beth El Young Peo-
ple's Societies, Little Women of
Hadassah, Junior Hadassah, Jun-
ior Service Group, Avukah, Ha-
shomer Hatzair, Ilabonim, A. Z.
A. Chapters of Detroit, Junior
Auxiliary of Bnai Brith, Bicur
Cholem Juniors, National Coun-
cil of Jewish Juniors, Alumni of
the United Hebrew Schools, He-
brew-speaking group of Detroit,
Bialostoker Juniors, Jewish Amer-
ican Youth Council, Los Angeles
Sanitarium Juniors, and the Club
Leaders Group of the Center.
Murray Jacobs, vice-president
of the Shaarey Zedek Young
Peoples' Society, has been elected
president of the "Youth Speaks"
committee, and Reva Malamud of
the House League will serve as
recording secretary. Nadine
Lewis of the National Council of
Jewish Juniors was elected treas-
urer.
Richard B. Kramer of the Cen-
ter staff will serve as director
of the series.
The series of program will be
open to the entire Jewish com-
munity.

The Women's Auxiliary of Jew-
ish Home for Aged met in the
dining room of the home on Jan.
15. In the absence of its presi-
dent, Mrs. I. E. Goodman, Mrs.
David Kliger presided.
The nominating committee for
election of officers includes Mes-
dames A. M. Ferar, chairman,
Charles Cornell, A. B. Stralser,
Harry Meer, Samuel Schwartz,
Robert Marvell and Nate Blatni-
koff.
Through the efforts of Mrs.
David Werbe contact was made
with Anna Williard Winkler who
secured 24 youngsters from the
Marshall Pilsudski School who pre-
sented in costume the English
comedy, "How Boots Befooled the
King." Helga Smithson directed
the play.
The executive body under the
chairmanship of Mrs. Albert
Homonoff served as hostesses for
the social hour that followed.
The Auxiliary acknowledges a
contribution to the Simcha Fund
from' Mr. and Mrs. William B.
Geyer on their 15th wedding an-
niversary,

DEATH CALLS
DR. ELI LEVIN

Dr. Eli Levin died suddenly on
Friday, Jan. 12, at his office, 8934
Oakland Ave. Funeral services
were held at his late residence,
60 E. Boston Blvd., with Dr. A.
M. Hershman officiating. The
Rosenwald Post of the American
Legion paid tribute to him in a
special ceremony at the cemetery.
Dr. Levin was born in Toronto,
Ont., 52 years ago, and resided
in Detroit for 20 years. During
the World War he served as a
lieutenant with the 5th Division
and was a surgeon at the Base
Hospital at Vichy, France. He was
a thirty-second degree Mason, a
member of the Bloomington, Ill.,
Shrine, a member of the Veterans
of Foreign Wars, and of the Julius
Rosenwald Post, American Legion.
He was a graduate of the Univer-
sity of Chicago Medical School.
Dr. Levin was for a number of
years president of the Ahavath
Zion Synagogue on Holbrook and
Brush Sts., and had been active
in numerous other Jewish move-
ments.
Surviving him are his wife,
Bella Bernstein Levin; one son,
Mortimer Bayre Levin, a student
at the University of Michigan;
two daughters, Leah and Devera;
two brothers, Paul of Toronto and
William of Detroit, and four sis-
ters, Mrs. Robert Rosen and Mrs.
S. E. Brudo of Detroit, Mrs. Zel-
da Brudno of Palestine, and Miss
Bluma Levin of Chicago.
