ple Beth El Sisterhood

Welcomes Gifts
THE "GHETTO STATE"

For approximately 12 years,
the Sisterhood of Temple Beth
El, in conjunction with the
Library for the Blind and the Red
Cross, has transcribed books and
pamphlets into Braille, the lan-
guage the blind can read.
Each year, a class is held, the
Red Cross furnishing the teacher.
Donations from members of Sis-
terhood and friends have paid for
the machines. which cost $45 a
piece. The Sisterhood pays for
the paper and the repairs to the
machines. The machines need re-
placing and the committee wel-
comes donations for this worth-
while community project.
During the summer, Mrs. Sid-
ney Alexander, chairman of the
Braille committee, transcribed
eight pamphlets published by the
Public Affairs Committee of the
U. S. Government, in response to
culls received at the Library for
the Blind.
Mrs. Alexander announces a
class in book-binding at the
Library every Tuesday morning.
