Will Meet Monday
"The biggest problem in meet-
ing the inroads of anti-Semitism
today is our own people," said
Aaron Droock, vice president of
District Grand Lodge Number 6,
before a class of 200 candidates
at an open meeting of Pisgah
Lodge of [Mai Brith, held last
Monday evening in Lachar's
"The average Jew not only lacks
knowledge as to the truth or
falsity of charges made against
him by anti-Semites, but what is
far more serious, he has little de-
sire to inform himself properly."
Mr. Droock emphasized the im-
portance of self-education on the
part of the Jewish people, so
that both individually in their
daily lives, and collectively in
their dealings with the non-Jewish
community, they might be in a
position to refute libels and ex-
pose falsities. Organizations such
as the Anti-Defamation League,
he said, attempt to educate both
the Jew and the non-Jew to an
understanding of the true facts
about the Jewish people.
The initiation ceremony for the
class of candidates was performed
by a degree team, consisting of
Elias Goldberg, president; Sam-
uel W. Leib, vice president; Har-
old M. Silverston, treasurer; Wil-
liam I. Boxerman. monitor; Jos-
eph Straub, assistant monitor;
Henry B. Thumin, warden.
Joseph Sanders, president of
Pisgah Lodge, introduced Samuel
W. Leib, who took charge of the
installation ceremonies for High-
land Park A. Z. A. Chapter Num-
ber 313, whose newly elected of-
ficers are: Philip Rothchild. Aleph
Godol; Leroy Heitman, Scan;
Ernest Denenfeld, Mazkir; Louis

gree team also initiated a class
of 80 candidates in the Louis
