League for Peace

The American League for
Peace and Democracy invites
groups and individuals to join the

zens.
The Detroit branch of the
League for Peace and Democ-
racy, with its large Women's

inaw, which was organized by
Sirs. B. I. Rosenberg 25 years
ago, celebrated its silver jubilee
at its January meeting.
A testimonial certificate, prais-
ing the work of the auxiliary, its
benevolent and meritorious serv-
ice which it had rendered to the
B'nai Israel Congregation and
the Jewish community of Sagi-
naw, was presented to Mrs. Ro-
senberg in appreciation of what
her organization has accomplish-
ed during the last 25 years.
Samuel B. Weinberg, president
of the 11'nai Israel Congregation,
made the presentation, and Mrs.
Rosenberg, founder of the auxil-
iary who served as president of
the organization for 22 years, ac-
cepted the testimonial in behalf
of the auxiliary.
The beautiful certificate which
is framed in a silvered frame will
from now on decorate the front
wall of B'nai Israel meeting hall
as a reminder of the wonderful
cooperation between the auxiliary
and the officers of the congrega-
tion.
The presentation committee,
which was headed by Samuel 13.
Weinberg, t h e congregation's
president, included Ira Mandel-
stem, vice-president; Benjamin J.
Rosenberg, treasurer; Jonas Man-
delstam, secretary; Rabbi Israel
T. Notis, Charles Goldstein. trus-
tee. and Morris Nobel., trustee.

ization were exchanged by old
members present. A luncheon was
served. The hostesses at the
luncheon were: Mrs. Ira Mandel-
stam. Mrs. Samuel B. Weinberg
and Mrs. George Bloomfield.
Thee Ladies' Auxiliary of the
B'nai Israel Congregation of Sag-
inaw, which started its existence
with only a few members, grew
to great proportions during the
following years, and it now in-
cludes the greater majority of all
the Jewish women in Saginaw.

A board meeting of the Ladies'
Auxiliary of the Children's Home
was held at the home of Mrs. A.
0. Barsky on Leslie Ave. last
Tuesday morning. A luncheon
was served by the hostess.
Mrs. Ralph Paul accepted the
chairmanship of the third annual
shower and luncheonette, which
is to be held on Tuesday, Feb. 28.
The following contributions
were received: Mr. and Mrs.
Ralph Paul, in memory of Isadore
Kohn; Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Ros-

stein; The Ilannah Ilarveth Club,
in memory of Nathan Goldman;
