'donor event to be held at Hotel
Statler on Tuesday, Jan. 17. His
statement follows:
"I am glad to speak a word
of commendation about the work
of the Eva Prenzlauer Maternity
Aid in connection with their com-
ing annual affair on Jan. 17.
"The Eva Prenzlauer is a
small group of devoted women
whose aim is to help pay for hos-
pitalization confinement of in-
digent Jewish women. Although
the city provides hospitalization
for expectant mothers in cases
where home deliveries are ab-
solutely out of the question, there
are a good many borderline sit-
uations where it is inadvisable for
social or other reasons to have
the delivery made at home. It is
in such cases -that the Eva Pernz-
lauer Maternity Aid steps in
with its assistance.
"All of the investigations are
done by the Jewish Social Serv-
ice Bureau, whose recommenda-
tions in nearly every case are
followed by the society.
"Although the program is not
large, this group is to be espe-
cially commended for two things:
First, for selecting a limited
area in which they can be useful
without attempting to spread
themselves thin, and second, for
arranging with a recognized so-
' cial agency to place at their dis-
posal the knowledge and skills of
trained social workers."
For further information. re-
garding the luncheon, call the
chairman, Mrs. N. Blatnikoff, llo.
4472, or Mrs. harry Eisler, Ty.
7-1487.
Mrs. Anna Williams is chair-
man of the committee in charge
of pledges.
